- Based on the F3 800, developed by MV Agusta’s racing division Reparto Corse
- Weighs 28kg less than the standard model
- Engine output bumped up to 157.8bhp with limited slip clutch and custom SC Project exhaust
When it comes to limited edition models, Italian bike maker MV Agusta surely knows how it’s done. Using the standard F3 800 as a baseline, the company has introduced a track-focused version of the motorcycle called the ‘F3XX’. Developed by MV Agusta’s racing division, Reparto Corse, the team seemed to have been instructed to shed all the possible weight and extract the maximum potential of its motor.
To give you an idea, the track-only F3XX is a complete 28kg lighter than the standard F3 800 which tips the scale at 173kg (dry). All that weight loss has been achieved by extensive use of carbon fibre for several components. And if that wasn’t enough, the engineers have flashed the existing ECU by replacing the stock map with an aggressive one. To go with that, the stock valves have been replaced with titanium ones while the stock clutch has been upgraded to a limited slip unit. To top it off, the iconic side-mounted three-pipe exhaust system has been swapped for a carbon fibre custom made SC Project system. All this tinkering has resulted in a significant boost in power from 146bhp to 157.8bhp.
To record data on this performance-packed motorcycle, the existing LCD display has been replaced with an AiM MXS1.2 dashboard. Above all the required information for a track-spec bike, it also comes equipped with sensors to record the lap timings and also keep a tab on the throttle applied as well as braking pressure.
Now, hand-built things always carry a premium over mass-manufactured products. Similarly, while MV Agusta hasn’t said anything about the price for one of these limited edition track missiles, we are sure it isn’t going to be cheap. To give you an idea, the standard F3 800 which is currently on sale in India, retails at Rs 16.31 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai.
