- MV Agusta Elephant could be a middleweight adventure tourer
- The bike will rival the Triumph Tiger 900, KTM 890 Adventure and the likes
- The MV Agusta Elephant could carry a premium price tag
Italian motorcycle brand, MV Agusta has registered a new trademark, the Elephant. While the details about the upcoming product are scarce, we may see a new adventure tourer from the two-wheeler manufacturer. The MV Agusta Elephant may draw styling cues from the “Cagiva Elefant”.
All major brands, including another Italian manufacturer, Ducati, are offering adventure motorcycles. Ducati’s current ADV range comprises of the Multistrada 1260 Enduro and the Scrambler Desert Sled. Harley-Davidson, the American two-wheeler brand that is known for its cruiser motorcycles, too, is diverting its attention towards adventure tourers, and the company has already revealed its Pan America 1250.
MV Agusta’s current range comprises of the Turismo Veloce 800 middleweight sports tourer, Brutale roadsters and the F-series (F3 800 and F4) of supersport motorcycles. There isn’t, however, a proper adventure motorcycle in the company’s portfolio. The new adventure tourer, if under development, will help the company widen its reach.
The displacement details are scarce, although we may see a middleweight (800-900cc) adventure tourer from MV Agusta. Expect performance figures to be at par with the existing and upcoming products in the segment such as the Triumph Tiger 900, KTM 890 Adventure and the likes. The equipment, too, should match the rivals, and the MV Agusta adventure tourer should get features such as full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster with integrated navigation function and tubeless-tyre compatible cross-spoke wheels.
The new product may take a while to reveal itself, and we do not expect to see it for at least another year or two. The motorcycle, when launched, could arrive at a price premium over its competition.
