- Pays homage to MV Agusta’s first-ever engine
- Limited to just 300 units
- Gets more features and visual add-ons
MV Agusta is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the development of its legendary 98 engine this year. To mark the milestone, the Italian marquee has taken the wraps off the special edition Superveloce 98 sportbike for the international markets.
MV Agusta intends to maintain the exclusivity of the motorcycle by producing just 300 examples. It essentially commemorates the roll out of the first-ever engine produced by the brand in 1943. This puny 98cc mill was meant to simplify transport during wartime.
Setting the 98 edition of the Superveloce apart from its standard trim is the inclusion of a bunch of exotic add-ons, visual and functional. First up, it adorns a special burgundy paint scheme which MV Agusta calls ‘Rosso Varghera.’ This is accompanied by contrasting silver-coloured stripe running vertically across its fairing and Alcantara seats. Now, the functional changes are more comprehensive.
The list of exclusive features in the Superveloce 98 includes a 5.5-inch TFT dash with Bluetooth, cruise control, launch control, front lift control, GPS, and an anti-theft system with geolocation. Powering the bike is the same 798cc, triple-cylinder engine that does duty on the standard trim. However, the 98 edition benefits from titanium intake and exhaust valves. This engine produces close to 147bhp at 13,00rpm and is capable of attaining a top speed of 240kmph.
The lucky buyers of the MV Agusta Superveloce 98 can also opt for the Racing Kit which includes a triple-outlet Arrow exhaust, special map for the ECU, passenger seat cowl, custom motorcycle body cover, and a certificate of origin.
