MV Agusta ties-up with Chinese bike brand Loncin; to launch four new models in 2021

- MV Agusta signs long-term agreement with Chinese bike giant Loncin

- Will develop a new range of motorcycles with displacement ranging between 350cc and 500cc

- Four new models to be introduced in 2021

Following the slew of tie-ups from big bike brands with Asian or Indian companies, Italian bike manufacturer MV Agusta too has signed a long-term agreement with Chinese bike giant, Loncin, to develop a new range of motorcycles. Under the new treaty, four new motorcycles will be developed to expand MVs presence in the rapidly growing premium segment. The displacement of the motorcycles will range between 350cc and 500cc and will be introduced in the market over the next two years. For those unaware of the Chinese brand, Loncin has a strong presence in the market as it has been manufacturing engines for BMW Motorrad since 2005. Currently, the company supplies engines to BMW for the F750GS and F850GS along with complete manufacturing of the C400X and C400GT scooters for the international market.

While MV Agusta will be aiming at expanding its product portfolio and competitiveness in the market. Loncin, on the other hand, will contribute its learnings of the Chinese market and utilise its advanced production capabilities. MV will also be seen extending its design experience and technical know-how with regards to high-performance motorcycles to further boost the presence of Loncin’s ‘Voge’ brand in the Chinese premium motorcycle sector.

Coming back to the four motorcycles set to be introduced in 2021, expect one to be based on the street naked Brutale and the second to take inspiration from the faired F3 sports bike. Subsequently, looking at Lorcin’s product range, the Chinese giant already has the faired GP300 (also offered as the Voge 300RR), and then there’s also its naked version in the form of the CR6 (300R in Voge). While the former can be considered a smaller derivative of the F3, the latter can be an offspring of the Brutale. Although the displacement of these motorcycles stands at 292cc, which is lesser than the mentioned range starting of 350cc, expect the stroke and bore of the engine to be altered to address the same. Besides the naked and faired models, Loncin also offers retro-styled and adventure spin-offs using the same chassis and motor.

Moving to the other end of the displacement range, Voge, the premium brand of Loncin, offers a naked-and an adventure-style motorcycles that are powered by a 471cc parallel-twin mill. Reportedly, the motor is a said to be a doppelganger of the Honda CB500.

Furthermore, the new partnership will not be limited only to the development of the four 350-500cc bikes, but will also utilise MV Agusta in introducing Loncin into the premium segment of 800cc performance motorcycles.
