MV Agusta is going to launch a new litre-class Brutale at the 2016 EICMA Show in Italy in November. This new Brutale is expected to get the powertrain and a revised electronics package along the lines of the flagship superbike – the F4 apart from conforming to the Euro IV regulations.
In true MV Agusta tradition, the new Brutale will get a host of styling updates to boost its exotic quotient. While the current Brutale 1090 uses a 1078cc engine, reports from an Italian media house suggest that the new model will borrow the 998cc powertrain from the F4. In the F4 this engine produces 192bhp and 111Nm of torque though we can expect the power output to be toned down for the Brutale. Manufacturers usually reduce the power output and increase the torque to suit the character of the streetfighter, and we can expect the same for the new Brutale.
This new engine would not only give the ageing streetfighter a major update, but also help streamline the powertrain throughout the range. We can also expect the new Brutale to get MV Agusta’s proprietary MVICS electronics package. This package consists of torque control, eight-level traction control, anti-wheelie function, lean angle sensor and a torque shift system. Apart from the new Brutale, MV Agusta will also bring a new special edition model of one of its three-cylinder bikes. We can expect the new Brutale to replace the current Brutale 1090 in the Indian market, a few months after the bike hits the global market.
