It has been revealed that the MV Agusta will launch the Turismo Veloce 800 and the Turismo Veloce Lusso in the European market between March and April, next year. First displayed at the 2013 EICMA Show in Milan, the Turismo Veloce marks the Italian manufacturer’s entry into the fast growing sports touring segment.
The Tursimo Veloce (‘Light Touring’ in Italian) motorcycles have been developed with emphasis on making long distance touring comfortable, and the exceptional performance is complementary. The Lusso, i.e. the Luxury model, gets additional features like an integrated GPS, semi-active suspension (MV Agusta Chassis Stability Control), heated grips and 60-litre panniers.
Both the Tursimo Veloce 800 and the Turismo Veloce Lusso are powered by a liquid-cooled 798cc inline triple engine, which has been derived from the 675cc engine used in the F3 supersports motorcycle. This engine churns out 126bhp and 84Nm of torque through a six-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are handled by 43mm Marzocchi inverted telescopic forks up front and a progressive Sachs monoshock in the rear, which is linked to a single-sided swingarm. Both the motorcycles are equipped with the updated MVICS 2.0 electronics package, which is also seen in the new Brutale 800 RR and the 800 Dragster RR.
While the Turismo Veloce will be pitted directly against the Ducati Multistrada, it will also rival the likes of the BMW F800GS Adventure and the Triumph Tiger 800 XC. The production models are expected to be showcased at the 2014 EICMA Show, next month, along with the recently unveiled streetfighter motorcycles- the Brutale 800 RR and the 800 Dragster RR.
