MV Agusta has recently confirmed that its only touring motorcycle, the Turismo Veloce 800, will be launched in India on 29 August. While its introduction is just around the corner, we tell you what to expect from this tourer from the Italian bikemaker.
Design and Features
The Turismo Veloce sports a traditional MV Agusta styling which is similar to the F3 800 and F4, especially on the front. It boasts of a diamond-shaped LED headlamp which is accompanied by air scoops at the bottom. It carries aggressive design lines across the bodywork with angular quarter fairing and a sculpted fuel tank. The split seat resides on a high-set tail section which features LED tail lamp and a huge grab rail. The design highlights of the Turismo are triple slash cut exhaust, knuckle guard-mounted turn indicators and the tall windscreen.
The instrumentation on the tourer comprises of a full-colour TFT instrument cluster which displays a host of information. The motorcycle also comes equipped with MVICS electronic system with a full multi-map ride-by-wire throttle and eight levels of traction control.
Engine
Powering the Turismo Veloce is the same 798cc, in-line three cylinder, liquid-cooled motor which does duty on the F3 800 supersport and the Brutale 800 naked streetfighter. This powerplant belts out 108bhp of power and 83Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox which is assisted by an up and down quickshifter and hydraulic-activated slipper clutch.
Cycle Parts
Underpinned by a steel trellis frame, the motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. It gets fully-adjustable suspension setup including upside down forks up front sourced from Marzocchi and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. Braking on the bike is taken care of by a pair of 320mm discs with four-pot calipers at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear with dual-channel Bosch ABS setup as standard.
Pricing
MV Agusta is likely to price the Turismo Veloce at a significant premium over the Brutale 800 and F3 800 which are retailed at Rs 15.59 lakhs and Rs 17.25 lakhs, respectively. Considering that, expect the touring motorcycle to be pegged around Rs 18.5 lakhs to Rs 19 lakhs. The Italian bikemaker offers the bike in four trims in the international market including standard, Lusso, Lusso SCS (Smart Clutch System) and RC SCS. However, the company is likely to bring only the standard variant in India. In terms of competition, it will go up against the Ducati Multistrada 950 and Triumph Tiger 800 XRx.
