MV Agusta is gearing up to launch its Euro 4 compliant models in the next couple of months. In fact, we might see the entire new range at the upcoming 2016 EICMA in Italy.
This news was confirmed by Giovanni Castiglioni, CEO, MV Agusta to MCN in an interview. The current focus for the company is to make its entire range meet the 2017 emissions rules, which will come into effect from January 1, 2017. As per Castiglioni, MV Agusta won’t develop a Ducati Scrambler type competitor. It wants to focus only on the Brutale, Dragster and other three-cylinder bikes as they’ve been selling really well worldwide.
The Italian maker did have to go through financial restructuring due to rising debt, but as per the top honcho, everything is under control and the company is generating enough cash. However, by the end of next month, MV Agusta will have to submit a plan regarding future investment plans.
"What our plan entails is to continue to make special bikes, keep away from the lower end of the market and there will be no small bikes like the Ducati Scrambler for MV in the foreseeable future. New bikes like this will have to wait for a while, as there is no cheap way of developing new motorcycles – and we need to focus on our core products right now," said Giovanni Castiglioni, CEO, MV Agusta.
There were rumours about Mercedes AMG, which owns 25 per cent stake in the company, exiting the partnership. For now, the Italian exotic bike maker will continue to sell its bikes and plan for the future.
