Italian two-wheeler manufacturer, MV Agusta has introduced the updated, 2022 F3 RR in the European markets. The 2022 F3 RR gets upgrades in the form of redesigned aerodynamics that feature elements inspired by the company’s Moto2 race machines. Here we explain the motorcycle in detail.
Design
The styling changes over the previous model are limited, but noticeable. As mentioned above, the 2022 MV Agusta F3 RR gets aerodynamic winglets that are integrated into the faring. These are claimed to generate a load of 8kg on the front end at a speed of 240kmph. Apart from the addition of the aerodynamic updates, MV Agusta has also updated the colour palette. The motorcycle is now available in two dual-tone colours – Surreal White Gloss/Mamba Red Gloss and Fire Red Matte/Metallic Dark Grey Matte.
Features
Apart from the styling revisions, MV Agusta has also revised the rider aids on the 2022 model. The middleweight supersport model now benefits from an inertia measurement unit (MU) that brings additional safety features such as cornering ABS. The motorcycle also gets electronic rider aids such as cruise control, eight-level traction control, launch control, and ABS with rear wheel lift-up mitigation. Lastly, the 2022 model benefits from a Bluetooth-enabled 5.5-inch colour TFT display. The Bluetooth module gives access to GPS, navigation, and app-controlled engine and rider aids.
Engine
While the styling and features have received an upgrade, the mechanical specifications retain the 798cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 145bhp at 13,000rpm and 88Nm of peak torque at 10,100rpm in stock form. The Italian brand will also offer an optional Racing Kit that will bring a new Akrapovic exhaust and ECU with racing map to the 2022 F3 RR. MV Agusta claims that the Racing Kit boost the maximum power output to 153bhp. Other components included in the Racing Kit are CNC fuel tank cap, CNC brake and clutch levers, fiberglass passenger seat cover, and carbon fiber silencer cover. Apart from boosting the maximum power output, the Racing Kit is also claimed to reduce the dry weight of the motorcycle from 173kg to 165kg.
Hardware
The suspension tasks on the 2022 F3 RR are handled by Marzocchi upside-down front forks and a Sachs rear mono-shock. The setup is adjustable for rebound and compression damping, and spring preload. The braking tasks are handled by twin 320mm discs with Brembo four-piston callipers at the front and a single 220mm rotor with a Brembo two-piston calliper. The six-speed gearbox benefits from a MV EAS 3.0 electronically assisted shift up and down quickshifter.
Price
MV Agusta is yet to return to the Indian market. The 2022 F3 RR is currently available in select international markets. Prices start from 21,900 euro (Rs 18.96 lakh) onwards. The Race Kit is an optional extra, and it would push the prices higher.
