New Benelli 1200GT: Details Explained

Benelli has introduced its GT segment motorcycle, the 1200GT in the Chinese market at 99,800 Yuan (Rs 11.43 lakh). The motorcycle is expected to make its way to Europe soon, although its India launch is not likely to happen anytime in near future. Here we explain all the details about the new Benelli 1200GT.

Design

The new Benelli 1200GT packs a semi-fairing design along with a tall windscreen at the front to provide protection against windblasts. The front fascia also comprises a massive headlight assembly and fairing integrated front turn indicators. Other styling features include a muscular fuel tank, a split-style seat setup, body-coloured panniers, and a top box at the rear. The motorcycle features crash bars near the engine and on the rear to protect the bodywork in case of a fall.

Engine

The 1200GT uses a 1,209cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is tuned to deliver 134bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 120Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The motor is based on the company’s middleweight, inline three-cylinder engine that powers the Benelli Tornado Tre.

Features

The feature list on the Grand Tourer motorcycle comprises full-LED lighting, an electronically-adjustable windscreen, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a 15-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and GPS technology.

Hardware

The new Benelli 1200GT rides on 17-inch wheels on both ends. The suspension setup on the motorcycle includes upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The braking setup comprises dual discs on the front wheel, a single rotor at the back, and Brembo-sourced callipers.

Price and Availability

The Grand Tourer is currently available in the Chinese market where it retails at 99,800 Yuan (Rs 11.43 lakh). It is expected to reach the European market next where it will rival the likes of BMW R 1250 RT.
