- New TRK 552X unveiled
- Gets new 552cc engine with 60bhp
- India launch later this year
Benelli has taken the wraps off a new motorcycle – the TRK 552X. This middle-weight adventure motorcycle has received performance as well as aesthetic upgrades.
By looking at the front profile, it is clear that the TRK 552X now gets dual-LED headlights instead of the halogen bulbs in the TRK 502. The windscreen is a bit larger and the beak has also gotten sharper. The fairing and the fuel tank shrouds have also gone a bit bigger – giving the bike a more visual mass at the front. However, the tail section looks similar to that of the outgoing model.
In the features department, the Chinese company has equipped the bike with a five-inch full-colour TFT screen that shows a lot of ride information. This cluster sports Bluetooth connectivity, multiple display modes and also tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Sadly, this Benelli doesn’t get riding modes or a traction control system. Dual-channel ABS is standard, though.
The TRK 552X now gets a bigger 552cc parallel-twin engine that makes 60bhp and 55Nm of maximum torque. This figure makes it one of the most powerful adventure bikes in the segment. Benelli has given this bike the fancy Marzocchi USD forks at the front and mono-shock at both ends. But the presence of a 19-inch front wheel cross-spoke wheel is a bit weird. A 21-inch front wheel would have made it more off-road-ready.
For now, the TRK 552X is sold in China, but it is expected to hit the European markets in the next few months. The India launch should happen before the end of this year with a decent price hike. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure are the closest competitors as of now, but there have been rumours about Kawasaki re-launching the Versys X-300 in India.
