- Features a brand new fascia
- Will be powered by a 1300cc boxer twin engine
- Could get collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and more
Just a few days before the BMW R1300GS’ official launch, the German ADV’s official images were leaked on the web. These reveal a lot of design details and more of the upcoming flagship BMW bike. Here’s what it looks like.
BMW has made radical changes to the new GS. Its fascia looks notably different when compared to the GS models so far. The new R1300GS gets a central projector LED with diagonally placed LED DRLs and another small unit below. It’s placed between a sleek-looking beak and a transparent visor, which could probably be adjustable. The overall bodywork also appears to be slimmer than the predecessor. Then, the fuel tank seems to have been revised but continues to taper towards the seat.
From the previously leaked information, we’ve also learned that the BMW R1300GS could use a 1,300cc boxer twin engine. Its output could be 143bhp and 143Nm. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox and benefit from an optional quickshifter. BMW has also retained the shaft drive for the R1300GS. On the hardware front, the suspension setup includes USD front forks, a front Telelever, and a rear Paralever setup. The brakes will include a dual front and single rear disc with dual-channel ABS.
The new BMW R1300GS will get LED illumination and is likely to benefit from collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, fully digital console with GPS, ride modes, traction control, and more. The newly leaked images also show that the R1300GS could get both, spoked wheels as well as alloys. So, buyers can expect multiple variants.
The official debut is set for 28 September and once launched, the BMW R1300GS will rival the Ducati Multistrada V4, Harley-Davidson Pan America, and others.
