Harley-Davidson has unveiled its all-new sport custom motorcycle, the Sportster S. The motorcycle is scheduled to arrive in the United States of America (USA) this fall (September-November) with a base price of USD 14,999 (Rs 11.18 lakh). The Indian launch details for the new Harley-Davidson Sportster S are not available yet.
The new Harley-Davidson Sportster S is built on the company’s Revolution Max platform. The motorcycle is powered by a 1,250cc, liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-twin engine that produces 119.3bhp of maximum power and 127.4Nm of peak torque. The safety net on the motorcycle comprises five riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain, and Two Custom Modes), cornering ABS, and lean-sensitive traction control. The equipment on the Sportster S includes a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster and full-LED lighting.
In terms of design, the new Sportster S features a capsule-shaped headlight, a massive front tyre, a short front fender, an 11.7-litre fuel tank, high-mount exhaust, and a slim solo seat. The tail section, exhaust, and saddle draw inspiration from the Harley-Davidson XR750 flat tracker. The motor, which is a stressed member of the chassis, features a Chocolate Satin finish on the magnesium engine covers. The motorcycle will be available in three colours in the USA – Vivid Black, Stone Washed White Pearl, and Midnight Crimson.
The hardware on the Sportster S includes Showa 43mm inverted front forks and a Showa rear mono-shock. The front setup is fully adjustable while the rear suspension features a hydraulic preload adjustment. The five-spoke alloy wheels are shod with Dunlop/Harley-Davidson Series GT503 tyres. The braking setup uses a 320mm disc with Brembo radial monoblock four-piston calliper at the front and a 260mm disc with a two-piston Brembo calliper at the back.
