- New Africa Twin CRF 1100L unveiled
- Gets more power, features
- Cruise Control is now standard
After weeks of teasing, Honda has finally revealed the next generation Africa Twin. It now goes by the name CRF1100L, thanks to its bigger engine.
For the 2020 model, the Japanese manufacturer has done a host of changes that has made the Africa Twin more fun and agile. The frame has been revised. The subframe now gets aluminium touch and is detachable. The swingarm is lighter too. The motor is now 1084cc which makes 7bhp more at 102bhp. The torque too, has increased to 105Nm from 98Nm. The bike will continue to get the manual and DCT gearbox options for both the variants – standard and Adventure Sports. Even with increase in displacement, the overall weight of the bike has come down, thanks to lighter engine and gearbox construction.
In the electronics department, Honda has done some major upgrades. There’s wheelie control, cornering ABS, rear-lift control, cruise control and cornering lights. The Adventure Sport ES model now gets electronically equipped ride adjustment suspension. But the most important feature on this new Africa Twin is the new 6.5-inch TFT touch screen display. It sports Apple CarPlay as well.
We are expecting the new Africa Twin to reach our shores sometime next year. Thanks to its increase in displacement and features, expect the new bike to costs significantly more than the current model.
