- To be based on the CB750 Hornet and Transalp
- Render shows the expected design
Honda is rumoured to be working on a 750cc sportbike based on the new CB750 Hornet naked and the Transalp adventure motorcycle. Following Honda’s sportbike nomenclature, it will allegedly be called the CBR750R.
This doesn’t come as a surprise as brands have been utilising their single platform to spawn a variety of motorcycles for years now. It makes perfect engineering sense for Honda as well, especially considering its 750cc platform has been globally acclaimed by journalists due to its potency and versatility. Although Honda already has a middle-weight 650cc in-line four engine, the parallel-twin platform is substantially different in terms of character and it should be more frugal as well. Notably, we have observed some brands focusing more on a twin-cylinder platform than an in-line four, like Yamaha with its R7 and MT-07.
A render of the CBR750R had done rounds of the internet several months back which sensibly predicted how the motorcycle will look. It boasts an angular bodywork with a sharply contoured front fascia, a pointed, upswept tail section, and an exhaust closely similar to the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. The engine and other equipment of the bike will certainly be similar to the CB750 Hornet which makes 90bhp and 75Nm along with a decent amount of electronic aids.
