The motorcycle is likely to be the SP160 and is expected to be unveiled next week.
- Likely to be the SP160
- Expected to be priced around Rs 1.10 lakh
- Would be positioned below the Unicorm 160
Honda has released a teaser of its upcoming motorcycle on its social networks. The motorcycle will be unveiled in India next week on 2 August.
Now, details of the motorcycle are scarce but it is likely to be in the 150-180cc category. However, after a look at Honda’s portfolio, the new motorcycle is expected to be the SP160. The brand already has the Unicorn 160 as its premium 160cc offering but nothing to offer in the 160cc commuter segment specifically targeted at Tier-3 cities. That is where the upcoming motorcycle would come in.
Designed as a rugged and minimal commuter, it would be powered by the same 162cc engine that churns out 12.7bhp and 14Nm. Hardware and features are most likely to be kept uncomplicated and utilitarian too. That said, we will only witness the unveiling of the motorcycle next week with its launch expected to take place near the festive season.
We expect it to be priced somewhere around Rs 1.10-1.15 lakh, ex-showroom and compete against its own sibling, the Unicorn 160.
