- Teaser video hints at an electric motocross product
- To be unveiled on 7 June 2022
- Indian launch unlikely
Kawasaki has released a teaser video of a new motocross motorcycle ahead of its unveiling that is scheduled for 7 June, 2022. While the company does not give a glimpse at the motorcycle, it does reveal an off-road track that is designed for motocross products. Once launched, this new electric motorcycle will rival the likes of KTM Freeride E-XC in the international markets.
The styling cues should be similar to the company’s existing internal combustion engine-powered motocross motorcycles such as the KLX450R. Thus, this upcoming Kawasaki electric motocross should pack minimal body panels, a tall-set front fender, flat seat and wire-spoke wheels. We expect the hardware, too, to be similar to the company’s existing motocross motorcycles and thus this new Kawasaki product should carry a long travel suspension, petal-type disc brakes, and wire-spoke wheels that would be shod in knobby-type tyres.
The details about the mechanical specifications are scarce at the moment. However, the company may aim to match the specifications of the KTM Freeride E-XC. The electric motor on the Austrian product, for reference, can deliver 18kW of maximum power and 42Nm of torque.
The teaser video was posted on the company’s US Twitter handle. This new electric Kawasaki is not likely to reach the Indian market in the foreseeable future.
