- New KLX 230 S dual-sport gets a lot of upgrades
- Rear sub-frame has been improved
- 223cc engine offers better low-mid range performance
Kawasaki has taken the wraps off the new KLX 230S. For 2024, this dual-sport motorcycle gets a comprehensive update to make it more riding-friendly.
The major changes have been made in the chassis as the rear subframe has been redesigned to allow longer wheel travel and also accommodate an updated seat. This new frame helps to not only keep the seat height in check but also increases the overall ground clearance. The bike also comes with a new aluminium swingarm, which is considerably lighter than the outgoing model, and also a lighter rear brake master cylinder. The side stand has been shortened to match the low seat height.
The overall styling has also been changed and now it is in line with the KX series. This new bodywork does make the motorcycle look a bit more modern and clean. The headlight is also new and gets LED treatment. Moreover, the seat is now a bit thicker and also sports a dual-tone colour.
The 233cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine has been reworked to provide better low- and mid-range performance. While the overall power figures are the same, the ECU settings have been revised to offer an increase in performance.
In terms of features, the new KLX 230 S now gets smartphone connectivity, which means, there’s a smartphone app that can be used to check and read ride details. Then, the ABS has been updated to offer more control. The rider now can switch off ABS for both wheels – front and back.
The price of the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S has been marginally increased, but when it comes to India, we can expect a decent price hike.
