Kawasaki seems to be working on giving a major update to the Versys 1000 – a litre-class touring motorcycle. For the new year, the bike is rumoured to get a bigger 1100cc engine.
According to a report, the Japanese maker has filed for homologation in Australia. The filing documents showed a new model code – KLZ1100B, which is likely to be the Versys 1100S. Also, the filing talked about a mid-level ‘S’ variant. The entry-level Versys had a 1000 suffix, whereas the top-end one had an SE suffix.
Out of all the motorcycles in its range, Kawasaki has given the Versys 1000 the least updates – be it in the form of power change or feature addition. But it looks like this motorcycle is finally getting some big upgrades. A presence of an 1100cc inline four-cylinder engine means there could be a minor bump in power and torque. As of now, there aren’t many details on the feature list, but expect the new Versys to get some styling updates too.
The Versys 1000 was sold in India for a few years but was discontinued due to poor response. But we can expect the Indian arm of Kawasaki to bring back this new touring machine with good pricing.
