- Makes more power and torque than the standard model
- Gets adjustable WP suspension setup
- Available in Atlantic Blue colour with signature orange paint for the frame
KTM has unveiled the more premium R variant of the 890 Duke roadster for the international markets. The new KTM 890 Duke R boasts several styling and mechanical upgrades over the standard 890 Duke.
For starters, the 889cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine on the 890 duke R makes 121bhp of power and 99Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the same motor makes 113.4bhp and 92Nm on the standard model.
The hardware on the motorcycle includes a tubular steel chassis. The suspension tasks on the R version are handled by adjustable WP APEX suspension. The anchoring duties are handled by twin 320mm discs with monoblock Brembo Stylema callipers and an adjustable Brembo MCS master cylinder. The braking setup at the rear comprises a 240mm single rotor with a Brembo single-piston floating calliper. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod in Michelin Power Cup 2 tires.
The electronic rider aids on the 890 Duke R include cornering ABS and cornering traction control system with a 6D lean angle sensor. The motorcycle comes with three ride modes (Rain, Street, and Sport) as standard while the Track mode is available as an optional extra.
Styling upgrades include the addition of new paint. The new Atlantic Blue colour is similar to the paint used for the KTM RC16 GP racer and the 1290 SUPER DUKE R. Similar to all KTM ‘R’ models, the 890 Duke R, too, uses the signature orange frame.
