- New V-Strom 700 spotted testing
- Gets new 75bhp parallel-twin engine
- EICMA debut likely
Suzuki has been secretly working on a new adventure bike that will compete with the successful Yamaha Tenere 700. This bike will be called the V-Strom 700 and is likely to replace the ageing V-Strom 650.
A prototype of the V-Strom 700 was spotted testing in Italy. The pictures reveal a lot of new and interesting things. Firstly, the bike will be powered by a new 700cc parallel-twin engine. The current model gets a 650cc V-Twin. This parallel-twin approach has been taken to take on the segment leader – the Yamaha Tenere 700. Honda is also rumoured to launch the Transalp 750 this year.
In terms of performance, the V-Strom 700 could churn out around 75bhp and good torque too. To keep costs in check, we can expect the Japanese brand to borrow some cycle parts from the 650cc cousin. So things like brakes, levers, and suspension may not be brand new. The spied motorcycle was running 21-inch front with spoke wheels. This means, there could be two models on offer – one an adventure variant and the other could be a more road-focused touring model.
The Suzuki V-Strom 700 could make its official debut later this year, maybe at the 2022 EICMA show that will be held in Milan, Italy. Post that, the bike will come to India and will be priced at least Rs 50,000 more than the current V-Strom 650.
