- New Suzuki V-Strom 800DE unveiled
- Gets brand new engine, electronics
- India launch likely next year
Suzuki has just unveiled their brand new adventure bike at the 2022 EICMA – the V-Strom 800DE. This motorcycle replaces the old V-Strom 650.
The V-Strom 800DE is built around a new frame and is being positioned as an everyday adventure motorcycle. Although it borrows some of the styling elements from the V-Strom 1050, the fascia does show its sharp front.
The new 776cc, the parallel-twin engine makes 83bhp of peak power at 8,500rpm. The company hasn’t revealed the torque figures but the fuel efficiency stands at 22.7kmpl. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is 2,345mm long, 975mm wide, and 1,310mm tall. The ground clearance is decent at 220mm and with a seat height of 855mm, shorter riders might face some difficulties.
In terms of electronics and features, the V-Strom 800DE gets multiple riding modes, four traction control modes, bi-direction quick shifter, and the famous easy start system. There’s also the ABS that offers two modes along with the rear ABS off mode. Then, the windscreen can be adjusted in three ways and the USB socket comes as standard.
The new V-Strom 800DE is available in three colours – yellow, grey, and black. This bike is likely to be launched in India next year as a completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit. Once launched, it will go against the new Honda XL750 Transalp and the BMW F850GS.
