- Spotted for the first time
- Likely to be a family scooter
- Seems to be running budget components
Tork Motors, a Pune-based EV start-up which only has electric motorcycles in its portfolio yet, was recently spied testing an electric scooter for the first time. Although it was fully camouflaged, some details were easy to decipher through the clearly visible rear end of the scooter in the spy shots.
The scooter seems to have a large tail section accommodating a chunky and spacious single-piece seat which will probably get a large grab rail on the production version. Moreover, the rear wheel is suspended by dual springs and is being propelled by a hub-mounted motor. These elements hint towards a budget-friendly, family-oriented electric scooter. While the technical specifications of this EV are not known yet, we expect it to have a range of close to 100km and a top speed of around 80kmph, at least, to keep up with the competition.
Now, considering the demand for family-oriented, no-nonsense electric scooters is on the rise, it makes sense for Tork Motors to take that route, at least with their first scooter. It will mostly go up against the likes of the Ather 450S and the Ola S1X. We believe Tork Motors will try to keep its pricing close to the Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom) mark to give it an edge over most of its competitors. While the launch timeline of the scooter is not confirmed as of now, it should make its debut in the first half of 2024.
