Triumph Motorcycles has updated the 2024 Scrambler 1200 range internationally and added a new ‘X’ variant to the mix.
Now the Scrambler 1200 X replaces the XC model and aims to offer much more accessibility to a wider audience. The road-focused variant does this by offering a lower, 820mm seat height that can be further reduced with the 795mm accessory seat. In addition to that, the ergonomics on the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X differs from the XE with a 2.56 inch narrower handlebar. The XE also gets a 0.39-inch spacer and adjustable foot levers. Overall, the Scrambler 1200 X is also smaller in height, length and width as well. Even the rake and trail are different with the X offering a 26.2 degree rake and 4.9 inch trail compared to the 26.9 degree rake and 5 inches trail on the off-road focused XE.
Powering the Triumph Scrambler 1200 models are the same 1200cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out 89bhp at 7000rpm and 109Nm at 4250rpm. Both the motorcycle also share the Marzocchi-sourced suspension but with a state of tune that suits their individual on and off-road character. However, the rear on the X offers preload adjustability only while the XE comes with full adjustability and more travel at the front.
As for brakes, the Scrambler 1200 XE gets Brembo Stylema shocks at the front with a Nissin caliper at the rear. Meanwhile, the X uses Nissin calipers at both ends. That said, the 2024 Scrambler 1200 range ride on wire-spoke wheels with aluminum rims. The off-road focused XR is shod with Metzeler Tourance tyres while the X comes with Metzeler Karoo Street tyres.
We can expect Triumph to launch the updated 1200 Scrambler range in India by the end of the year of early 2024 with a price tag slighly higher than the outgoing models.
