TVS is gearing up to launch their new flagship motorcycle – the new TVS Apache 200. Scheduled to be launched on January 20, a production ready bike in camouflaged form was spied close to its factory in Hosur.
The overall design language of this new Apache is slightly different from the current ones and we aren’t complaining. The bike looks more sporty, slim and stylish. While we could manage to say this with the camouflage on, we won’t be surprised to see the best looking bike in the segment when the Apache 200 is officially revealed. Just like the Apache family, this new bike sports bikini fairing, which houses an angular headlamp unit. The fuel tank looks big and macho, thanks to the extension plastic panels on either side. The spied bike sports a belly cowl under the engine bay, making us believe it will come in the production versions too. These pictures confirm that the Indian versions will get clip-on handlebars as against a single bar which was seen on the prototypes that were spied in Indonesia. The new Apache 200 gets split seats, 10-spoke alloy wheels and also alloy on the footpegs and its mounts in order to save weight.
Talking about the mechanicals, the new TVS Apache 200 will be powered by a new 200cc single-cylinder engine. We’re expecting its power output to be very close to the rivals. Disc brakes can be seen in the front as well as the rear. However, the bike might get ABS too in future.
TVS is betting big on this new model and has been closely observing the segment. Once launched, the new TVS Apache 200 will compete with the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and AS200. In terms of pricing, we’re expecting TVS to price the bike close to Rs 90,000.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you the first ride report of the TVS Apache 200 on January 21.
