- New Yamaha EMF unveiled in Taiwan
- Features Gogoro’s battery swapping technology
- Range and top speed not revealed yet
Yamaha has taken the wraps off the new EMF electric scooter in Taiwan. The scooter features swappable battery technology provided by Gogoro, is a sustainable mobility solutions company. For those who don’t know, Gogoro is the same company with which even Hero MotoCorp has joined hands to develop an electric two-wheeler and battery swapping ecosystem in India.
Aesthetically, the Yamaha EMF is quite radical and futuristic. It looks robotic with a vertically-stacked headlamp, flanked by long and narrow side panels. Even the rear design is busy with an amalgamation of a couple of curvy and angular panels. Yamaha Taiwan will be selling the EMF in three colour options including dark black, dark blue, and light blue.
The scooter is decently equipped with modern features like full-LED lighting, a Bluetooth-enabled digital console, and a smart key with NFC. As for the powerplant, it is propelled by a permanent magnet motor with liquid-cooling that produces 7.6kW and 26Nm. The weight of the scooter is 114kg which is inclusive of the 21kg battery pack. The manufacturer hasn’t revealed any more technical specifications of the EMF.
Yamaha might not launch the EMF e-scooter in India but it will definitely enter the electric mobility space sooner or later, perhaps with a product made specifically for India.
