- New Yamaha Tracer 9 GT ABS to soon arrive at showrooms in Japan
- Gets a new cross-plane two-cylinder engine concept
- Priced at Yen 1,452,000 (Rs 9.72 lakh)
Yamaha has introduced the new Tracer 9 GT ABS in the Japanese market. The sports tourer motorcycle is based on the new MT-09 ABS and has received changes both in terms of cosmetics as well as mechanicals. The changes include a new suspension setup, revised body structure and styling, a new engine, a new frame, lightweight aluminium wheels and a new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The Japanese automaker is planning to retail 1000 units of this bike annually in its domestic market.
The Tracer 9 GT ABS is a sports tourer motorcycle based on the new MT-09. It comes equipped with an additional fairing, a tall windscreen upfront, knuckle guards, an underbelly exhaust, split seat setup, a stay for the side case and a chunky 18-litre fuel tank. It further gets features like a mono focus twin-lens LED headlamp, redesigned taillamp, 3.5-inch coloured TFT dash, four riding modes, cruise control, quick shifter, traction control, slipper clutch and a new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
Powering the new Tracer 9 GT ABS is the same 888cc inline three-cylinder water-cooled engine that we have seen on the MT-09. This engine makes 118bhp at 10,000rpm and 93Nm at 7,000rpm. All this power and torque is put down via a six-speed gearbox. The ride here is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a swingarm at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking, it employs a dual disc at the front and a single disc at the rear.
The Tracer 9 GT ABS will arrive in the Japanese market on 28 July 2021. The bike is available in three colour options: Blueish White Metallic 2, Vividred Solid K and Matte Dark Gray Metallic A. The sports tourer is priced at Yen 1,452,000, which converts to Rs 9.72 lakh. While the company has updated the sports tourer in Japan, the chances of the arrival of the new Tracer 9 GT ABS in the Indian market are pretty slim.
