- New YZF-R7 confirmed
- Leaked doc confirms two variants
- Unveil likely this year
There have been rumours about Yamaha working on a new R7 and that rumour has now been confirmed, thanks to the leaked document filed with California’s Air Resources Board.
From this picture, it is clear that Yamaha will have two versions of the new YZF-R7. These two models are likely to be just different paint schemes. The new YZF-R7 is likely to be based on MT-07 platform. So it might get the similar frame and same 689cc parallel-twin motor. The bodywork is bound to be different, but we can expect other cycle parts like suspension, brakes and wheels to be borrowed from MT-07.
This upcoming YZF-R7 is likely to make around 72.4bhp at 8750rpm and peak torque of 67Nm at 6500rpm. The bike could tip the scale at 184kgs. In terms of overall performance, the YZF-R7 definitely won’t come close to the R6 but in terms of pricing, it will definitely be price quite less.
We can expect Yamaha to unveil this new supersport later this year for the world market. But it might not come to India anytime soon.
