Norton has given us the first look of the Dominator cafe racer motorcycle, ahead of its global debut in the company’s Donington Hall headquarters in the UK, this weekend. While the company had released a graphic image of the motorcycle before, this is the first time the motorcycle has been revealed in its full glory.
Earlier this year, Norton had revealed the Domiracer prototype, an old-school cafe racer track-only motorcycle with a loud MotoGP exhaust. The Dominator is the road-legal version of that quirky motorcycle, which has been moderated on different levels to make it production feasible. This new rendition of Norton’s iconic motorcycle will be sold in two versions – Dominator standard and Dominator SS.
The Dominator is powered by a parallel twin engine, just like its predecessors from the 1950s. This 961cc engine has been borrowed from the Norton Commando 961 model and is rated at 80bhp. Suspension hardware includes Ohlins units, while braking is taken care of by Brembo.
Owning a Dominator will set you back by GBP 19,950 (Rs 18.56 lakh) if you opt for the standard bike and GBP 24,500 (Rs 22.8 lakh) if you choose the Dominator SS. While this kind of money might seem outlandish for a barebones cafe racer, you have to remember that despite carrying a price tag of GBP 25,000 (Rs 23.26 lakh), the limited edition Norton Domiracer ran out of stock in just a few days and used Domiracers currently change hands in the UK for around GBP 40,000 (Rs 37.22 lakh).
