Iconic British two-wheeler manufacturer, Norton, has unveiled the new Dominator SS classic motorcycle. The Dominator moniker has been synonymous with Norton ever since it was first used for a twin cylinder motorcycle developed in 1947. The original Dominator was developed to rival the likes of the Triumph Speed Twin and paved the way for Norton twin-cylinder motorcycles for the next three decades.
Earlier this year, Norton had revealed the Domiracer prototype, an old-school cafe racer track-only motorcycle with a loud MotoGP exhaust. The Dominator SS is the production version of that quirky motorcycle, which has been moderated on different levels to make it production feasible. Also unlike the Domiracer, the Dominator SS will be a road-legal bike.
Like the original Dominators, the new model will be powered by a parallel twin engine, which displaces 961cc and is rated at 80bhp. Ohlins has supplied the suspension hardware, while braking is taken care of by Brembo units.
Production of the Dominator SS will commence in 2015 and for the UK market, it will be produced in a limited run of just 50 units. Carrying a price tag of GBP 19,950 (Rs 19.58 lakh), the Dominator SS will be a very exclusive motorcycle and we are sure the company will run out of stock in no time.
