Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Oben Electric has finally announced that it is looking to commence deliveries of its sole offering- the Rorr e-motorcycle from January 2023 in nine cities across India. These include Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur and New Delhi.
That said, the Oben Rorr is said to have received around 17,000 bookings since its launch in March this year. Now, we tested the near-production-ready model a few months ago and were impressed by what it had to offer for the most part. Oben Electric claims to have made some improvements to the final package.
The news of the deliveries comes after the startup received close to 4 Million USD or Rs 32.67 Crore in funding and is looking to raise USD 50 Million more in its Series A round with a ready product. The Oben Rorr e-motorcycle uses a 4.4kWh LFP battery and 10kW motor capable of propelling it to 100kmph and offering a claimed range of upto 150km. You also get other essential features like full-LED lighting, and an LCD instrument cluster that shows the speedo, odo, range, battery level, and the ride mode selected. This unit is Bluetooth enabled and works with Oben Electric’s smartphone app that shows other basic info.
With a price tag of around Rs 1 lakh and styled to be a motorcycle, the Oben Rorr has few direct rivals, one of which is the Revolt RV400. However, it also competes against a whole range of scooters like the OLA S1 Air and Ather 450X too.
