Okinawa revealed its maxi electric scooter, the Cruiser in concept form at the 2020 Auto Expo. The production-spec model will be launched by the third quarter of the next financial year (FY2020-21). Until then, here are detailed images of the electric scooter in the concept form from the 2020 Auto Expo.
The prototype vehicle featured a muscular design, and the production-spec model should retain the styling. Other features on the production-spec version will include apron mounted LED headlight, a visor, step-up saddle and a split-style footboard.
The concept vehicle was showcased in a swanky golden coloured finish, although the production-spec scooter will receive subtle paint options.
Surprisingly, the instrument cluster on the concept vehicle was a semi-digital unit instead of a fully-digital display – a feature that is common on several electric two-wheelers. While the Okinawa Cruiser uses a semi-digital instrument cluster, the electric scooter is compatible to work with smartphone connectivity.
The wide seat and split-style footboard with multiple positions to rest the feet should deliver a comfortable ride.
Storage solutions comprise a large under-seat storage and a glove box at the front. While the actual capacity for the under-seat storage is not available, we can expect a sufficiently large space to accommodate a full face helmet.
Features such as anti-theft alarm, keyless ignition system, USB port, motor walking assistance and find my scooter function should be retained on the production-spec model, although some of them could be available as optional extras.
Mechanical specifications on the scooter include a 3,000 Watt electric motor that draws power from a 4kWh, lithium-ion battery pack. The top speed is rated at 100km/h while the company claims a range of 120km/charge.
The Cruiser electric scooter is high-speed charging compatible, and the battery pack can be fully recharged in two-three hours.
Hardware specifications comprise telescopic front forks, gas-charged rear twin-springs, disc brakes on both wheels and 14-inch alloy wheels.
The production-spec scooter, as mentioned above, will arrive in the third quarter (October to December 2020) of FY 2020-21.
