- Okinawa joins hands with Tacita
- Production of co-developed products to begin next year
- One of the first offerings will be a high-performance electric motorcycle
Indian electric two-wheeler brand Okinawa Autotech has joined hands with the Italian performance electric motorcycle maker, Tacita. All the operations under the partnership will be carried out in India and the production of their co-developed offerings will begin in 2023 at Okinawa’s facility located in Rajasthan.
For the uninitiated, Tacita was founded in 2009 and has been making off-road electric motorcycles. As per the partnership agreement, the Italian brand will provide the powertrain including controller, motor, battery packs and battery management system (BMS), all of which have been developed over 10 years of research and development in extreme conditions. On the other hand, Okinawa will handle the local development and production.
Both brands concertedly plan to churn out scooters and motorcycles meant for domestic as well as international markets. The business will kick-start with the introduction of a scooter and a high-performance electric motorcycle next year. The designing and development of the crucial components of these products will be executed in Italy at Tacita headquarters. Meanwhile, test runs will be carried out in India and Italy both for making them all-weather proof. Interestingly, the partners also plan to conduct a long test ride starting from Okinawa headquarters in India to Tacita headquarters in Italy.
