- Okinawa Okhi90 electric scooter launching tomorrow
- Will be the brand’s flagship product
- Could offer a battery range of about 150km
After teasing its upcoming flagship offering on multiple occasions, Okinawa will finally launch the electric scooter in India tomorrow. Likely to be called the Okhi90, it was spied a few weeks back which revealed a bunch of details about it.
The Okhi90 looks quite unconventional as compared to the existing electric two-wheelers in India. It sports long and flowing body panels from the front apron to the tail which make it look like a maxi-scooter. Another bit that’s a first for an EV in India is a pair of large 14-inch alloy wheels, similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155. The spy shots and teasers have also revealed that the lighting system will be full LED and the instrument cluster will be a sizeable LCD unit.
Unlike the conventional hub-mounted motor setup, the Okinawa Okhi90 seems to be running a mid-mounted motor connected to the rear wheel via a belt. Although the company hasn’t revealed the top speed and battery range yet, both are likely to be on par with premium electric scooters. Online speculations suggest that the top speed will be around 80kmph along with a range of nearly 150km. It might also come with connected features and a smartphone application.
The prices of the Okinawa Okhi90 will certainly be north of Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will be manufactured at the brand’s new plant located in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The Ather 450X and the Ola S1 will be its main rivals in India.
