- Okinawa’s upcoming e-scooter teased
- To be called the Okhi90
- Likely to offer a range of around 150km
Okinawa has released a teaser image of its upcoming electric scooter ahead of its official launch scheduled to take place on 24 March. The e-scooter will be called the Okhi90 some details of which have been revealed through its spy shots.
The teaser image gives a glimpse of its front fascia and shows its handlebar-mounted LED headlamp and apron-mounted LED DRLs. What we know through its spy pictures is that it looks unlike any other electric scooter available in India, especially with the large 14-inch alloy wheels. The camouflaged test mule boasted a maxi-scooter-like design with a wide front apron, long rear panel, sizeable grab rails, and roomy seat.
Okinawa hasn’t revealed much about the technical specifications of the scoter. What we know so far is that it will be a high-speed electric scooter, with an expected top speed of around 80kmph. Even the full battery range will be impressive, mostly about 150km. Typical of an EV, it will certainly come with advanced features like an LCD instrument cluster showing a host of information, connectivity options through an e-SIM, and a smartphone application.
Okinawa will be utilizing its new plant in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, to manufacture the upcoming Okhi90 electric scooter. In terms of competition, it will lock horns with the likes of the Ather 450X and Ola Electric S1.
