- Ola Electric sells 9,634 units as per Vahan data
- Attributes the growth to the S1 launch
The popularity and adoption of electric two-wheelers in India are growing at a rapid pace, thanks to the government’s continuous support, increasing environmental awareness amongst the masses, and the introduction of new EV brands. One of the testimonies of this is the September sales of Ola Electric. As per the Vahan data, the EV giant sold as many as 9,634 units of its electric scooters last month, overtaking the erstwhile top-selling brand, Hero Electric.
This is an astonishing increase as Ola Electric’s August sales numbers stood at 3,421 units, placing the brand in the sixth position on the chart. Whereas, Hero Electric topped the grid in the same month by registering sales of 10,476 units. Ola Electric attributes the bump in registration to its strategy of expanding the product portfolio by launching the Ola S1. The company claims that it sold more than 10,000 units of the S1 on the first day of opening the purchase window.
While the competition in the Indian EV space has already intensified, it’s going to get even more interesting soon with a couple of big ICE two-wheeler makers prepping to hop on this bandwagon. One such brand is Hero MotoCorp which is all set to launch its first electric scooter under the Vida banner on 7 October.
