- Ola working on B2B EV
- Built around a basic chassis
- Could use swappable batteries
Ola Electric has been trying hard to make electric mobility a big thing in India. From launching new EVs for personal use to introducing rental services, the brand wants to widen its EV model. Now it looks like, the company wants to enter the B2B segment big time.
According to a leaked patent drawing, it is clear that Ola wants to introduce a new EV that will cater primarily to last-mile delivery services and also some commercial activities. The leaked design shows a simple-looking electric two-wheeler which is built around a barebones chassis. This scooter can also be seen with decent space on the floorboard, and there’s also a provision to install a pillion seat or luggage-carrying accessory.
The rest of the cycle parts like the wheels, suspension, handlebar and even the instrumentation look basic as if it has been built to a cost. As of now, there are no details on the electric motor and batteries, but there’s a high chance Ola will go for a swappable battery tech for this product. Usually, commercial vehicles are ridden quite a bit more than personal vehicles, hence it makes sense to go for swappable batteries as that will reduce the overall charging time drastically, and in commercial space, the more time is saved, the more money could be made.
Currently, Ola hasn’t revealed any details of this product, but we can expect it to make its official debut sometime later this year or early 2025.
