What do you get when you cross a large quad bike with a motorcycle? Most would say a six-wheeled monster with the off-road capabIlIty of a Unimog. However, in this case the monster, rather aptly named “the Brutus”, has two really large wheels and looks really imposing.
Built and designed by the Alessandro Tartarini, the son of the founder of Italjet, the Over Brutus is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled 750cc engine which produces 49bhp and is mated to a CVT gearbox with the option of reverse. While there is no official information on the tyres, the pictures suggest that they are most likely specially made Bighorn 260 section tyres from Maxxis.
The bike is also available with accessories like a winch, tow bar or generator and a snow kit which as the name suggest can turn it into a full-fledged snowmobile. The Brutus was revealed at the 2012 EICMA show and will be produced under the Over brand from next year. Prices are likely to be in the range of seven to eight thousand Euros before taxes (Rs 4.9 to Rs 5.6 lakh).
While most of the bike seems revolutionary due to the way it has been designed, reports have suggested that the Brutus may not be able to live up to its purpose fully as it likely to be too heavy do real hardcore mud-plugging and will be better suited for small dirt roads.
