- Michael Metge led the first stage of PanAfrica
- Lorenzo Santolino and Adrien Metge finished second and third
- Abdul Wahid Tanveer had to quit in the prologue stage
Sherco TVS Rally team had a good start in the PanAfrica rally as its riders dominated the 275km long stage one of the competition. While Lorenzo Santolino and Adrien Metge finished second and third, respectively, Michael Metge outpaced everyone and led the pack. Meanwhile, Johnny Aubert, who is competing for TVS for the first time, had a good start as he managed to stay in the top ten by finishing sixth. The stage one turned out unfortunate for the Indian rider Abdul Wahid Tanveer as he sustained injuries following a crash and had to quit the rally.
The competition started with a prologue stage on 22 September, a day before stage one. It’s worth noting that the stage one winner, Michael, finished the prologue stage at the sixth position but managed to jump on top of the chart on the following day. The French rider struggled while riding through tricky sand dunes but said he is confident about continuing the lead in the proceeding stages. Commendable progress was showed by Jonny Aubert as well, who ascended from 12th spot on day one to the sixth position on day two.
PanAfrica is a six-day rally raid with the second stage to be held today. It will span 290km of Merzouga region in Morocco.
