French automobile manufacturer, Peugeot, has announced that the new Speedfight 4 scooter will break cover at the 2014 Motorcycle Live event in the UK. As the name suggests, the new Speedfight 4 will be the fourth iteration of the two-stroke scooter, and will be available in either a liquid cooled or an air-cooled version.
The front twin of the Speedfight 4 is dominated by twin optical headlamps, micro bulb clear lens indicators and a redesigned grille. The instrument console of the Speedfight 4 is equipped with an on-board digital multifunction display with a USB socket for the cell phone connectivity.
Customers of the Speedfight 4 can either opt for an air-cooled 50cc engine producing 3.8bhp, or a liquid-cooled version of the same engine, rated at 4.8bhp. The Speedfight 4 is offered with a host of funky colour options. The low power model will be available in red, fluo green and blue while the special edition, with the liquid-cooled engine, will be offered in white, black and icy-white.
We had recently reported that a few Peugeot scooters were recently spotted at Mahindra’s facility, which included the previous iteration of the Speedfight 4.Since Mahindra acquired a 51 per cent stake of Peugeot’s scooter division, it is quite obvious that the Indian automobile giant will be launching a few scooters from Peugeot’s portfolio in India. And while the presence of the Speedfight 3 in the test facility might not be a sure indicator of Mahindra’s plans of launching it in India, we are highly skeptical about a 50cc scooter’s ability of finding many buyers in India.
