- Likely to be used for a new Aprilia electric scooter
- May share its electric engine with Vespa Elettrica
- Launch or unveiling details not available yet
Piaggio Group has registered the eSR1 on the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The document suggests that the trademark can be used for multiple applications, including electrically powered scooters. The Piaggio Group already uses the SR branding for its Aprilia range of scooters. Thus, this new trademark could be used for an Aprilia branded electric scooter. The logo design seen on the website resembles the SR branding that we already see on the Aprilia SR range that’s sold in India.
While the details are scarce, the upcoming Aprilia electric scooter may share the motor with the Vespa Elettrica. The similarities, however, will be limited to the sharing of the engine. The styling of the Aprilia e-scooter, on the other hand, will feature a modern look instead of the retro design of the Vespa Elettrica. The Vespa e-scooter is sold in two variants – 45kmph and 70kmph – and we could see a similar strategy for the Aprilia product.
The feature list, similar to the Vespa Elettrica, could include a Bluetooth-enabled TFT dashboard, LED lighting, and a large underseat storage.
The timeline for the arrival of the Aprilia eSR1 is not available yet but we could hear some concrete details next year.
