- New MP3 range unveiled
- Gets more power, features
- India launch unlikely
Piaggio has taken the wraps off its updated MP3 urban three-wheeler scooter range. The company is now offering MP3 400 hpe.
The MP3 400 hpe has replaced the 350 model and that has been done by upgrading the engine to a larger displacement. The MP3 400 hpe Sport using its new 399cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine makes 34.9bhp at 7000rpm and 37Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm. The Italian brand claims that this scooter makes 16% more power at 1500rpm lower and 30% more torque at 750rpm lower.
The brand has focused a lot on getting the comfort improved. The scooter also gets spacious under seat storage that can eat up two full face helmets. This seat can be opened manually or through a smartphone app that can be connected to the scooter.
The 500cc version also gets a reverse gear which the company claims is the first-in-the-segment feature. The MP3 500 makes 43.6bhp, which makes it quite powerful, and that’s why it is equipped with safety tech like three-channel ABS and traction control system.
The prices of both these scooters have risen decently. These Piaggios will go on sale in Europe very soon. But unfortunately, it will not come to India as there’s no market for such products.
