Polarity unveils six pedal-assisted electric bikes; to be priced from Rs 38,000

- Polarity’s portfolio consists of Sport and Executive range of e-bicycles

- Top-spec Sport model has a rated top speed of 100kmph

- All models will deliver a range of over-80km on a full charge which can be extended with pedalling 

Polarity Smart Bikes, a Pune-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced its entry into the Indian market and unveiled six pedal-assisted electric bikes. These models are divided into two segments including ‘S’ Sport and ‘E’ Executive series which comprise of three models each. The prices of these e-bikes will start at Rs 38,000 (ex-showroom). 

Starting with the Sport series, this segment includes the S1K, S2K and S3K electric bicycles. These models run a 1kW, 2kW and 3kW motor, respectively, which are powered by a lithium-ion battery. While the top speed for the S1K and S2K is claimed to be 45kmph and 70kmph, respectively, the S3K is rated to go up to 100kmph! 

Coming to the Executive line-up, its comprises of the E1K, E2K and E3K models which run a 1kW, 1.5kW and 2.5kW motor, respectively, and these too are powered by lithium-ion batteries. As for the top speed of these bikes, the E1K, E2K and E3K max out at 40kmph, 60kmph and 80kmph, respectively. On the feature front, the S3K and E3K get a Bluetooth-enabled display with GPS functionality. 

Polarity claims that these electric bicycles will offer a range of over 80km on a full charge which further extends with the pedalling movement. Built around a steel frame with BLDC hub motors and lithium-ion batteries, the E and S series bikes weigh less than 55kg. For charging, the bikes will be offered with a standard charger, with varying ratings based on the models, while an optional fast charger will also be available. Polarity is also providing a three-year warranty on the batteries. 

As for the pricing of the models, the S1K, S2K and S3K will cost Rs 40,000, 70,000 and Rs 1.1 lakhs, respectively. Meanwhile, the E1K, E2K and E3K will be pegged at Rs 38,000, 65,000 and Rs 1.05 lakhs, respectively. Notably, this was a brand launch with unveiling of the e-bicycles. The official launch of the models will take place in the coming weeks with deliveries set to take place by the first quarter of 2020. Polarity has opened pre-bookings for the bikes at a refundable amount of Rs 1,001 through its official website.
