We have been getting you the spy pictures of the Mahindra Mojo 300 since many months now. Mahindra has been testing the motorcycle extensively for thein last one year but revealed an updated version of it at the 2014 Auto Expo. Since then, no one has managed to get pictures of the bike being tested, maybe because it wasn’t being tested on public roads, until now.
Autocar has managed to get one picture of the camouflaged Mojo being tested on the outskirts of Pune. Judging by the looks, the bike seems to be production ready. However, when we compare this spied bike with the ones displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo, there are few things that are missing or have changed - the missing ‘Mojo’ branding on the side and a smaller exhaust can. The front cowl has been reworked and gets daytime running lights.
Mahindra has confirmed to use a 300cc DOHC four valve engine that will churn out 26bhp of power at 8500rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The bike gets a six-speed gearbox and is equipped with the Ducati electronic fuel injection system that improves the performance while making sure that the emission levels are kept low. The bike gets dual exhausts, which is rarely seen on a motorcycle of this engine size. We are sure Mahindra will focus on this feature while planning their marketing strategy.
The company has already registered mahindramojo.com domain, clearly indicating that they are preparing for the launch which is not too far. It will be very interesting to see how the company positions this bike in the Indian market where bikes like the KTM Duke 390 have been priced very competitively. More bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar SS400 and the Yamaha YZF-R25 are expected in the market soon, only to make Mahindra’s life difficult.
