- The concept was displayed back in 2021
- QJ Motor has received approval for the RX name
- The production model has received cosmetic and mechanical tweaks over the concept
Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer, QJ Motor, has received approval for its first electric sports bike. Dubbed QJ7000D, the concept was first displayed last year and is now inching closer to its production stage.
To be christened QJ Moto RX, the Chinese EV has seen quite some changes heading closer to its production. The fascia now looks a bit sharper and suits well for the overall profile. The fairing too seems to have been altered with smooth flowing lines. The flip-out cover for the charging port has been retained.
Furthermore, the QJ Motor RX’s seat appears a bit more angular as compared to the QJ7000D concept. It even has a seat lock which is absent on the concept. Moving ahead, the helmet storage in the faux fuel tank also is likely to be retained.
The type-approval document reveals that the QJ Motor RX has been approved for a 5kW motor unlike the 7kW unit displayed with the concept. The top speed of 65kmph hasn’t been changed yet and the RX will be offered as 125cc petrol-powered equivalent.
Odd enough, the production-approved model still has the gear shifter and clutch on the left side. QJ Motor’s intent could be to offer a more traditional riding experience with the said bits on the RX electric bike. Last but not least, Benelli being QJ Motor’s sibling brand, could also benefit from the upcoming EV.
