- Type-approval document and image leaked
- To be powered by MV Agusta’s 921cc engine
- Global unveil could take place this year
China’s one of the largest two-wheeler makers, QJ Motor, is rumoured to be working on a litre-class sportbike that’ll go by the name SRK1000RR. The motorcycle is said to go into production next year followed by its launch in select markets.
Interestingly, for the development of its litre-class offering, QJ Motor is speculated to utilise its partnership with the Italian brand, MV Agusta. Some details about the bike and an image of its production-ready unit are already out, courtesy of the leaked type-approval document from China. While the bodywork seems to be created by QJ, the engine and chassis will perhaps be the same as one of the MV Agusta offerings. In fact, a close look at the picture reveals that the hybrid chassis and single-sided swingarm of the superbike look closely similar to the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RS.
Notably, sitting behind its angular fairing is not the highly revered 205bhp, 998cc, four-cylinder engine from the Brutale 1000. What it will be powered by instead is the less powerful 921cc, four-cylinder mill that’ll pump out somewhere close to 127bhp. It’s believed that QJ will be manufacturing this 921cc mill for two MV Agusta retro offerings, the 921 S and GT, and use it for one of its own bikes in return. The overall design of the SRK1000RR, meanwhile, will be in line with the smaller SRK-RR range of bikes that are already on sale in China.
Now, even if everything goes as mentioned above, the QJ SRK1000RR is unlikely to come to India as it might not be a lucrative move for the brand.
