The final day in the Rally OiLibya of Morocco 2016 saw TVS Sherco's Aravind KP finishing 26th and Hero's CS Santosh completing the rally after Leg 3's troubles. The final stage ran for 210km with riders completing a total of 1885km in six days.
Aravind KP completed the entire rally in 17 hours 16 minutes and 27 seconds, around four hours behind overall winner KTM's Toby Price. With Santosh missing half day's running in Leg 3 on Wednesday, Aravind finished as the top Indian rider at 26th overall, with 19th in the FIM category and 17th in the 450cc standings.
Aravind KP said, “I am thrilled to complete this rally. Every stage was quite challenging, physically and mentally but I managed to use all the training experience especially while navigating to stay in the race, also the Sherco-TVS engineers ensured my motorcycle didn’t face any major issues. This rally was a fantastic learning ground and now Dakar is next.”
Aravind’s teammates Juan Pedrero and Adrien Metge also had successful outings at the OiLibya Rally of Morocco, finishing overall 8th and 11th respectively. Santosh staged a decent comeback after technical issues to finish 57th overall, 37th in FIM and 31st in 450cc categories after incurring a total of 14 hours 15 minutes of penalty time.
