River Indie electric scooter highlights: Price, range, performance, and more

Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, River, has announced the launch of its new electric scooter, the River Indie in our market. The company has revealed the price of the vehicle along with its features and availability details and here we list the top five highlights of the new River Indie electric scooter.

River Indie: Engine Performance, Battery Range, and Charging Time

This new electric scooter from River uses a 6.7kW (9bhp) motor that produces 26Nm of torque and works with an IP67-certified 4kWh Li-ion battery pack. The company claims a range of true range of 120km per charge and a top speed of 90kmph. The 0-40kmph acceleration is said to take 3.9 seconds, while the gradability is rated at 18-degree. Then, the battery pack is claimed to be recharged to up to 80 per cent in five hours with the standard charger. An option for fast charging is also available for this electric scooter. The vehicle and battery pack are available with five year/50,000km warranty.

River Indie: Features and Safety Net

The feature list on this electric scooter comprises twin LED headlights with DRL, LED taillight, LED turn indicators, hazard light, boot light, and a six-inch digital display. Meanwhile, the safety net on the River Indie comprises a combined braking system, a side-stand motor cut-off function, two USB ports, a reverse parking assist, three ride modes (Eco, Ride, and Rush), and an IP67 rating for the motor and controller. Then, the storage solutions include 43-litre under-seat storage, a 12-litre glove box, a bag hook, pannier stays, and accessory mounts.

River Indie: Design and Colours

The new River Indie features a rugged design that comprises a square-shaped twin-pod headlight, a curvy apron, foldable footrests for the rider and passenger, a step-up seat, a rectangular taillight, and 14-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, equipment unique to the Indie electric scooter includes crash guards integrated within the body panel, pannier stays, and a clip-on-style handlebar. The colour options include three choices – Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow.

River Indie: Hardware

The Indie electric scooter is built around a steel tubular dual cradle. The suspension hardware on this product comprises telescopic front forks and twin rear springs, while the braking tasks are handled by disc brakes on both wheels. The 240mm front and 200mm rear disc brakes use three pistons and a single piston, respectively. The key dimensions of this electric scooter comprise 1,365mm of wheelbase, 165mm of ground clearance, 770mm of seat height, and 300mm of water-wading capacity.

River Indie: Variants and Price

The River Indie electric scooter is currently listed in a single variant and it has been priced at Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). In the initial stage, this electric scooter will be available only in Bangalore and the pre-orders can be placed on the company’s official website. Meanwhile, the deliveries are scheduled to commence in August 2023.
