- Claimed to deliver a 120km battery range
- Top speed of 90kmph on offer
- Deliveries in Bengaluru to commence in August
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, River, has launched what it’s calling the SUV of electric scooters. It goes by the name Indie and has several tricks up its sleeves, one of them being a range of 120km. The company has priced the Indie at Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and deliveries will commence from August 2023.
The design of the River Indie is quite quirky with a bold front fascia sporting a square-shaped dual LED headlamp housed in a curvy front apron. The side panels flow neatly up to the boxy rear section which features a rectangular tail lamp. Some unique aspects of the Indie are its crash guards integrated within the body panel, pannier stays, clip-on handlebar, and the presence of rider footrests for placing the feet on in case the floorboard is occupied.
The Indie electric scooter also gets loads of storage space including a 12-litre front glove box and an underseat provision as big as 43-litre. Other useful features include a fully-digital colour display, two USB charging ports, and reverse parking assist functionality. As for the propulsion system, the Indie runs on a 4kWh battery pack that powers a 6.7kW motor which concertedly deliver a range of 120km and a 90kmph of top speed. Notably, the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in five hours with the standard charger.
In the initial stage, the River Indie electric scooter will be available only in Bengaluru and the pre-orders can be placed on the company’s official website.
