- Now costs Rs. 13,000 more than before
- Deliveries have commenced in Bengaluru
- Offers 120km of maximum range and 95kmph of top speed
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup, River, has announced the revised prices for its maiden EV, the Indie. During its launch in February 2023, the River Indie was priced at Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). But later on with the revisions to the FAME 2 subsidy, the asking price has increased to Rs. 1,38,000.
Compared to its introductory pricing, the Indie electric scooter now costs Rs. 13,000 more. However, its mechanicals, features, hardware, and everything else remains the same. The River Indie gets a long and utilitarian build. Its bodywork comprises twin LED headlights, with a fairly spacious floorboard and a single-piece seat. River has also equipped the Indie with foldable footpegs on the side for added legroom.
It uses a 4kWh battery offering a 120km of maximum range in Eco mode and a 4.5kW motor with a top speed of 90kmph in the Rush mode. During our first ride of the Indie, we found it to be quite likable in terms of performance, handling, and the overall aspect of usability. It gets a ginormous underseat storage that easily holds a full-size helmet and still has more space to store your groceries. Then, there is an additional storage bit at the front for your phone and more.
River also has a list of accessories that buyers can purchase for the Indie. It includes pannier mounts, panniers, a top box mount, a phone mount, and more. However, it is the features list, and braking where we feel the Indie could do better. You can read our first ride report of the Indie electric scooter for more details and whether you should purchase one.
